Craigmore’s Springhill apple orchard development began in 2018 and in four years there has been significant progress. The 136 hectare property will soon have a further 43 hectares added, and as the largest fully netted pit fruit site in New Zealand a lot of innovation goes into a property of this size.

Ben James, business manager for apples, shares how technology is being used on the site including the benefits of netting, the approach to irrigation, spraying and mowing, and how a super-intensive planting strategy will see Springhill deliver 35,000 bins of fruit at peak production.
