Stuart spent his early years growing up on a Northland dairy property and completed a Degree in Agriculture and Rural Valuation at Massey University. Following University, Stuart worked with JD and RD Wallace in the Waikato, starting as Dairy Assistant and working through management positions on various farms, to equity management/ownership and then finally as General Manager overseeing 9,500 cows across 12 dairy farms and 3 dry-stock properties.
In 2010, Stuart moved to the Rangitikei (Manawatu-Whanganui Region in the North Island) where he was CEO of a farming business that uses irrigation to transform sandy soils to productive properties. This grew to include 4,500 cows over five dairy farms and 2 dry-stock properties.
In 2017, Stuart founded a not-for-profit social change organisation, Millennium Farming, to support NZ farmers create best practice working environments. Stuart and his wife Anne have two pairs of twins, aged 9 and 10.
