Omi Badsar

Omi was born into an Indian military family 70kms outside New Delhi. His father was a Brigadier General in the Indian army, and his brother followed suit. If it had not been for an introduction to business studies in high school, Omi would have found himself in the firing line instead of the production line. He travelled to New Zealand, stepping out of his comfort zone, and experienced a different culture. Massey University and Palmerston North provided the perfect base, where he did his bachelor of commerce degree, and learnt about supply-chain management.

Omi joined Coxco in 2003, soon after University, and quickly set about applying his training to the fresh and processed squash business and to international trading. Twelve years on, Omi now manages the Gisborne-based Coxco Group of companies on behalf of the Craigmore Farming Partnership. His approach has been to develop the Coxco portfolio by securing and protecting the Coxco supply-chain, ensuring customers receive the very best service and advice, with the highest quality produce. Focused on exceeding customer expectations, Omi believes there is always room for improvement and meeting market demand is always top of his mind. The best way to do that is to surround yourself with great people and, to that end, Omi has developed a ‘people first’ business model, which recognises our staff are our best asset. In doing so Coxco can make a tangible difference in the lives of our staff and our community.
