François manages the North Otago Tuaraki Pod which includes Clydesdale and Glencairn.
François grew up on a beef and pig farm in Brittany, France. Having left school at the age of 19, he came to New Zealand to work and spent six months working on a dairy farm in North Canterbury before moving to work on a new dairy conversion in Mid-Canterbury. In 2001, he returned to France to manage a dairy farm. However, the outbreak of foot and mouth and TB meant the farm fell into restriction zones, and François made the decision to return to New Zealand to work in the dairy industry. He moved to South Otago to work as a dairy assistant on a 1500 cow farm and progressed to become the Operations Manager. In 2006, with his wife, Shelley, he took a share-milking job on a 900 head farm next to Arnmore. Having proved himself as a share-milker, he co-invested as an equity partner in Arnmore, which he converted into a dairy farm. In 2013, Craigmore purchased Arnmore, and Franç ois became an equity Pod Manager with Craigmore.
As a passionate member of the dairy industry, François is determined to see the North Otago farms, which have been poorly resourced and managed in the past, develop into top performing farms.
