Peter grew up in Whakatane, a small rural town in the Bay of Plenty, New Zealand. Agriculture has always been a big part of his life. Initially in Sheep and Beef farming, his interest is now in Horticulture.
In 2009, Peter completed an Undergraduate Degree in Commerce (Agriculture) from Lincoln University majoring in Farm Management and Rural Valuation, followed by a Postgraduate Diploma in Commerce. In 2016, Peter then completed a Doctor of Philosophy in Agricultural Systems Analysis and Modelling, also with Lincoln University.
Prior to and during his study at university, Peter worked on a diverse range of farms throughout New Zealand. In 2014, Peter was Farm Manager of Kowhai Vale and Lucas Bay Farms (675 ha) on the Banks Peninsula. In 2011 Peter was the winner of the World Young Shepherd Competition in Oamaru.
