Matt Redmond wins National Dairy Manager of the Year
On Saturday evening Matt Redmond was named the national winner of the prestigious Dairy Manager of the Year award at the Dairy Industry annual awards event. Matt, Farm Manager on the 232ha Landsend farm looking after 830 cows, is part of Craigmore’s Pahau Flats Dairy Ltd in Culverden, North Canterbury.

Earlier this year, Matt won the regional title for North Otago/Canterbury Dairy Manager of the Year which gave him entry into the national category. At Saturday’s awards dinner Matt was also recognised as the winner for two further merit awards:
- Primary ITO Power Play Award
- Westpac Personal Planning & Financial Management Award
This is a significant achievement for Matt and for Craigmore. Matt spent a lot of his personal time researching best practice and improvement strategies, consulting with previous winners and industry experts, to get the maximum benefit out of entry into the awards. Matt said, “the awards process has helped me to benchmark myself against other managers and meet new people.” The judges commented that “[Matt] concentrates on all aspects of the farm, but his financial capability and thorough understanding of his finances really set him apart”. This is an outstanding representation of the hard work Matt has put in over the last couple of years, and displays the high calibre of farm managers within the Partnership.
On behalf of the Craigmore team, we wish to congratulate both Matt and his partner Melanie for their hard work and dedication to dairy farming within our organisation.
