Animal Health and Welfare Award for Landsend

Earlier this month Matthew and Melanie Redmond, Farm Managers on the Craigmore Landsend property, received the Lead with Pride excellence in Animal Health and Welfare award at the Synlait Milk annual suppliers conference

Josh Dondertman and Matt Redmond

The annual event recognises high achievers in the Synlait milk supply network through the Lead with Pride programme and encourages dairy farmers to adopt best practice in milk quality, animal health and welfare, social responsibility and environmental sustainability.

Landsend is part of the North Canterbury Pahau Flats dairy pod, managed by Josh Dondertman. The Landsend Dairy shed was built in 2013 and commenced operation in the 2014/15 season. Today, Landsend runs an 850 cow operation, producing 375,325 kgMS and this season will be Matt’s second season with Craigmore.

The award was judged by an independent third party, who focused on the way finalists cared for their animals, the environment in which they farm, and for the people they employ. Craigmore are extremely proud of Matthew, Melanie, Josh and Becs for winning such a prestigious industry award.
